Umbilical Hose

Umbilical Hose Bundling

Abdex bundles umbilical hoses and manufactures Hydraulic Flying Leads (HFLs) in house, to API17E or ISO 13628-5. We hold certification to produce DNV-GL approved hose assemblies for the marine and oil and gas industries, and we flush and pressure test in the same workshop.

Umbilicals are built using HCR (high collapse resistant) hose with chemical resistance suitable for methanol and acids.

Umbilical hose range

Hydraulic umbilicals
An extensive range of hydraulic umbilical hose manufactured to subsea standard ISO 13628-5 (API17E), held in stock to give a short turnaround on bundled product.

IWOCs
Workover umbilicals built to requirement, and available with tensile strength members for self-supporting applications.

Pneumatic umbilicals
Low pressure pneumatic umbilicals for air breathing and tooling systems, including oxygen and approved air breathing systems. Testing can be performed with air where contamination is a concern.

Jumpers

Topside jumpers
Commonly supplied with Autoclave medium pressure connections and JIC female swivel, and integrated to customer hardware as required.

Deck jumpers
Available with heavy duty covers and heat resistant sleeving to reduce damage in topside service.

IWOCs jumpers
Built as part of the IWOC system, with connection and integration to IWOCs reelers where required.

Subsea intervention: Woodside Greater Development

Six subsea production wells and six water injection wells, integrating subsea multi-phase booster pumps. The Abdex hose bundle formed part of the Subsea Intervention Device (SID), used as a lightweight intervention package for inspection and repair of a subsea gas well, completing hydraulic communication between the SID’s subsea components.

The bundle exposed hoses to glycol control fluid, bio-grease, or a hydrocarbon and seawater mix. The 20 core umbilical ran various bore sizes and pressures: 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch at 5,000 psi and 10,000 psi, and 1/2 inch and 1 inch at 10,000 psi. Hoses were compliant to ISO 13628-5. A high tensile wire was installed for ease of handling, and flushing was performed to NAS 1638 class 6 with HW443.
